iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo will be a massive success, and I’m not surprised at all

The arrival of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max was overshadowed by the announcement of the iPhone Duo, which undoubtedly stole the show. This has led to some disturbing reports about the demand for the two Pro models, but a new survey suggests that those may have been premature and exaggerated.

iPhone 18 Pro is still quite popular

While early estimates suggested the demand for the iPhone 18 Pro models was lower than it was last year with the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple may still be selling quite a lot of devices. When we reported the early demand estimates, we asked you whether you had pre-ordered a new top-tier iPhone, and the answers were quite positive for Apple.

This may sound confusing, considering the most popular answer was negative. A little over 38% of you said that you’re not upgrading this year, which may sound disturbing, but it’s absolutely natural. Almost nobody is upgrading their phones annually, with many people sticking with the same device for three or even more years.



On the flip side, this shows that about 62% of you plan to upgrade your phones this time around, which is great news for Apple. About a third of you said you were planning to buy an iPhone 18 Pro, with 29% saying you had pre-ordered it and 14% planning to buy it later.

Delaying the iPhone 18 was the right decision for Apple

One of the more controversial things Apple did this fall was the delay of the vanilla iPhone 18, which is now expected to premiere sometime in early 2027. However, with only 6% of you saying that you plan to wait for it, it appears this may not be such a bad thing for the company. Apparently, the people who want the base model aren’t that many and are not in a hurry.

Then there’s some good news for the foldable iPhone. Close to 13% of you said that you were waiting for the iPhone Duo to come out. This demonstrates a surprisingly strong interest in Apple’s first foldable, which could help the company dominate this market.

No reason to fail

Though the iPhone Duo is the shiny new model, I can’t see any reason for the iPhone 18 Pro not to enjoy the popularity of its predecessor. It has the performance upgrades, camera improvements, and fancy new color fans enjoy, and it’s generally a good phone.
